Conditions for play in the Victorian amateur championship to-day were bleak and wintry. Bloan Morpeth putted well throughout. lie once sliced into the rough, and in a tearing shot to get clear he hit two balls out, one his own, and another a I"st ball lying unnoticed alongside. T. H. Horton was unreliable in his short shots. Dr. K. Boss started badly bv losing the first three holes. His steady recovery could not make up the leeway. Results: Morpeth (New Zealand) six up and five to play, defeated Hector Morrison. Ryan (Victoria) six up and five to play, defeated Dr. K. Ross. Faweett (New South Wales) one up, defeated T. 11. Horton. [At the end of the first 18 holes, Ryan was one up on Ross, Morpeth was one up on Morrison, and Faweett was one up on T. H. Horton (New Zealand). —Australian Press Association.
