CRICKET TOUR.
VISIT OP ENGLISHMEN. ARRANGEMENTS DISCUSSED BY N.Z. COUNCIL. The Management Commitlee of the New Zealand Cricket Council discussed last evening further arrangenients for the tour next truant of the English cricket team, when replies were received from major and minor associations to tlic Council's circular letter netting out the tentative itinerary ot the m Australia and New Zealand. This itinerary, which will include five matches in Australia, will 1101 he made public until the arrangements are completed. At the previous meeting of the Committee, a cable from the Queensland Association was received, declining the otter of a match in that State. The secretary (Mr W H. Winsor) reported last evening that the Queensland Association had reconsnh'l ed the matter, and would now complete arrangements on tlie same terms as the other States. Mr VViusor stated that in reply to a request from the M.C.C, tlwt the match at Perth be eliminated and the total Australian games reduced to four, he had replied pointing out that Australia had made strenuous requests for tive matches, and the New Zealand Council had agreed, not anticipating any oh lection from the M.C.C. He had pointed out, too, that the Council was relying to a great extent on the Australian matches from a financial point of view. A letter was received from the Poverty Hay Cricket Association, in reply to the Council's circular letter containing the tentative itinerary, expressing regret that a match had not been offered to either Poverty Hay or Waiapu. The Association had hoped thai n combined match might be arranged. Cricketers in Wairoa, Poverty Bay, and Waiapu would be deeply disappointed at being excluded from the itinerary. It was decided to reply expressing appreciation of the attitude of the Poverty Bay Association, and informing them that their proposal would be kept in view. The Waikato, Manaivatu, and Nelson Associations wrote accepting the matches and dates offered them. Stating that it possessed ono of the best grounds in the Dominion, the North Otago Association suggested that a match snould lie allocated to the Association. U was decided to reply that the Council would keep the request in view. The Auckland Association reported that a special meeting would consider the itinerary at an early date. The Wellington Association agreed to the terms of the match, but asked that if possible the match> be extended to four days Consideration of thin request was deferred.
