AKAROA AND WAINUI ROAD BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING. JL meeting of the Akaroa and Wainui Road Board was held on Saturday at Duvattchelle. Present —Messrs A. R. Haylock (in the chair), A. A. Narbey, S. J. Vogan, K. McPhail, and J. Hayward. Mr Hayward reported that he had waited on the City Council, and arranged an exchange of graders. The chairman said he had Inspected Balguerio road, and nothing was required to be done at present. Mr T. Giddens's road required new calverts. The necessary timber had been ordered for the culverts in PawEon's Valley. Mr McPhail reported that several slips had not been removed from Wainui roads, and they were being damaged, as water waa running over them. Mrs McDonald v.-as willing to allow the Board to get metal from her property, so long as fences were kept in good order. He had eiven Mr Staabury permission to take metal from the Board's quarry at French Farm. Mr B. Swift forwarded his resignation as surfaceman, which was accepted. Mr T. t>e Comto wrote asking for repairs to Wilson's road. The matter was left in the bands of Mr Togan. Mr S. Tiszard wrote stating that the piggery complained of had been pat in order. Mrs Styche wrote objecting to the proposed road through her property. The Takamatua School Committee asked that the Valley road between the factory and post office be put in better order. The matter was left in the hands of Messrs Haylock and Narbey. Mr G. L. Mcintosh asked if the Board would crush 160 yards of metal for him. It was resolved to do so if Mr Mcintosh would meet the cost. G. Le Vaillant offered to get metal at 7s per yard for the No. 1 Paua Bay contract if the Board supplied drills. This offer was not accepted. Messrs Haylock and G. J. Vogan were deputed to sign the rate roll. It was resolved that the stone contractors be given until September 14th to finish their contracts. ... Mr Vogan brought up the matter of abolishing the Road Board, and becoming part of the county. . _ It was resolved to write to other Boards Rskine them to appoint delegates to confer on the question of becoming part of the county.
