Several of Gordon Bottomley's plays for verse-speakers have been produced under ideal conditio-is in John Masefield's little theatre on Boar's Hill, near Oxford. These dramas are included in Mr Bottomley's new volume of "Scenes and Plays," just published bv the Macmillan Company. They were all written for the use of the speakers who have come to the front at the famous Oxford Recitations inaugurated by Mr Masefield. but they are said to be fullv capable of being performed for their dramatic interest.
From the "Xew York Times': Theodore Dreiser's popularity in Germany appears to be increasing. His play 'The Hand of the Potter," produced recently in Berlin, played to crowded houses during its entire run. In Hamburg, not long ago, a Theodore Dreiser hour was presented over the radio. After the speaker had given a sketch of Dreiser's life and discussed his plaoe in literature, selections were given from "An American Tragedy, "The Genius," "A Traveller at Forty" and aom* of Dreiser's plays.
