The Town Clerk (Mr J. S. Neville) hag written to Mr J. E. Brant, toe founder and ex-Mayor of the Borough of Lin wood, to the following effect: — I am directed by the Reserves Committee of the City Council to inform you its attention has bet>n drawn to "the way in front of the Linwood Library is overhanging the tram track to iach an extent that passengers riding on double-decker trams are liable to .come into contact with it. The committee has therefore decided that unless there i» some historical or sentimental value in connexion with the tree it is to be removed. As you win probably have some knowledge of the circumstance* under which the tree was planted, the committee would ette«m it a favour if you would communicate such to me." Mr Brunt has handed the letter to the Linwood Library Committer for their opinion.
