COAL DEADLOCK.
NO COMPROMISE. OWNERS AND WORKERS MEET. (WTTMB P*BSS ASSOCTATIO*--BT BIBCTHIC T*LKGT.A?H—COPTBIGHT.) (Received July 18th, 8.20 p.m.) SYDNEY, July IS. Less than half an hours discussion today sounded the death-knell of the conference between the mining industry unions and the coal proprietors, which was arranged bv the Coal Commission. The unions stated that they had nothing to offer in the way of a compromise, and the owners had no solution which would satisfy all parties. A joint statement to this effect was issued by representatives of the parties at the close of the conference. The Coal Commission thereupon resumed its investigation. —Australian Press Association.
