FINGER PRINT EVIDENCE.
SEARCH FOR MR HAMMOND'S ASSAILANT. An examination for finger prints on the goods collected by the armed burglar who shot Mr Edwr- ; Hammond on Tuesday night is being made by the with the idea of ascertaining whether the offender is known. The revolver which was used was not stolen from Messrs Hammond and Turner's, as ♦he firm not stock revolvers. Mr Hammond is not in a dangerous condition, although he is still on the seriously ill list and was showing a slight improvement yesterday. It was found that the bullet has lodged in hia left lung.
