TONGARIRO ASHORE.
BEQUEST FOB ASSISTANCE. (UKITED PMSS ASSOCTimOH—BT ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH COPTSIGHT.) LONDON, July 17. A message from Perim (at the entrance to the Red Sea) states that the British steamer Tongariro, bound from Bowen (Queensland) to London, is ashore five miles south-east of Ras al Ara. She is afloat aft and is not making water. She has sent out a request for assistance.—Australian Press Association. THE VESSEL iIEFLOATED. (Received July 18th, 11.45 p.m.) LONDON, July 18. The Tongariro has been refloated and is proceeding to Aden. Apparently the vessel is undamaged.—Australian Press Association, United Service. [The Tongariro is a steel steamer of 8729 tons. She belongs to the New Zealand Shipping Company and was built at Glasgow in 1920. Her port of registry is Plymouth.!
