.VHSOH ««JM» MM3S. Sir, —I- am ; a scanner of titbits from your ever responsible journal, and from the leading article my eyes stray around the pages. This mdrning I" spied the words '' favourable impression," followed by «' domes.''. Now oar. domes are anything but -"favourable impressions" to mo. Rdither would I desire to make use of expression's" for ] haying, to endure them. True Mr F. \V. Johnston, a worthy motoring enthusiast, couldn't be bothered to ..attend the recent demonstration. .He is right. We might just as well set out to prove that the earth is round. He suggests, a trial in Waimate or Kaiapoi. Why not, inI deedf There, our patriarchs could- test out their own domes against those in the country and try and prove whether empty domes give out the most sound. What a backward .City, we have, trams and domes, defying, the laws of the universe.and causing Bufrlid and Meccano; much, heartburning., We maintain trams andi/crazy trailers, when other cities Wrapped' them years ago. With much poiiip and circumstance we solemnly experiment with contraptions ; that others discarded RC. For the. n'th time wo have the question asked, <'Tho bottle-neck—is it to be or not to be?" Whilst other cities .plan and construct, ours becomes completely Thackerised (with Mayor and Councillors in respectful obeisance).— Youts. etc., . . oF Y • Christchurchj July 10th,
