UNEMPLOYMENT.

MORE WORK PROVIDED. Registrations of unemployed yesterterday totalled 32, including 23 married men. One man was placed in private employment. At St. Luke's schoolroom yesterday over 40 members of tha unemployed were provided with a hot meal. In addition to the helpers. Bishop We»tWatson was present and chatted with the men. The Rev. P. Revell, Anglican City Missioner, says that a supply of boxwood and kindling wood would be appreciated, and that the service* of a pianist would he welcomed. A meeting of about 60 unemployed, held yesterday, and presided over by Mr Geo. T. Thurston, secretary of the Amalgamated Engineering Union, expressed appreciation of the action of the Church of England in providing meals. The Rev. P. Revell. City Missioner, explained the purpose of the meal-room in St. Luke's schoolroom. He said that the public was coming forward well in assistance of the work, but donations of vegetables, etc , were needed. He pointed ont that the meal-room was only for genuine single unemployed men.
