SPREYDON BURGESSES ASSOCIATION.
Mr P. Hennessey presided at the monthly meeting of the Spreydon. Burgesses' Association. Correspondence was received from th« CH7 Council stating that it was negotiating for land in connexion with the erection of a footbridge across the Heathcote river from Ashgrove terrace to Hackthorne road. Mr D. Sykes, Spreydon member on the Christchurch Tramway Board, stated that in response to the request of the Association, the Tramway Board had placed closed cars on the Spreydon line on the midday and 5 p.m. runs from the City. The Board had also promised him to do its best to provide extra trams to and from Stourbridge street. Messrs Beil, Oakes, Clarke, Hunt. and Fehsenfeld were elected new members. The president and secretary aud Messrs Schou, Truman, and Langford were appointed a sub-committee to make arrangements for a social to be held on July yoth at St. Nicholas Church. This will be the first social promoted by the Association by which it is hoped to bring tho people of the district together. Mr Clemens raised the questioo of tho accommodation paddock in Barrington_ street. Several residents had complained to hira that dead animals had been left there. It was decided to make a report to the Inspector of Health should any further complaints be laid.
