PENDARVES. On Tuesday afternoon the parents and pupils of Pendarvea school visited Overdale, where the children of both schools played friendly matches of football and basketball. The basketball was Won by Pendarves girls by eight to three. In the seven-a-side Rugby the Overdale boys won bv 42 points to nil. In both games Mr J. L. Bush acted as referee. At the conclusion of the games the visitors were hospitably entertained by the Overdale ladies. Mp T. Waddell is a patient in the County Hospital. FAIRTON. Association was held on Monday, Mr John Watson presiding. A vote of sympathy was passed to Mr G. A. Franks, in his recent bereavement. Mr Thos. Boss was elected a member of the Association. Association forwarded 2gns, being the Association's share of prize-money given by New Zealand Farmers' Coop., in connexion with the County Bay. The Canterbury A. and P. Association wrote stating that it was desirous of assisting in the work of promoting the flock ewe competitions as originated by the Methven Association. If a suitable scheme could be arranged a suggestion was made that the Canterbury Association should give a prize, as a championship award. It also asked for particulars of the flock ewe competition. The committee decided to forward the desired information. Dr. Hilgendorf, Director of Wheat Research Institute, wrote asking the Association to endeavour to colleet wheats of all varieties from different localities, with the object „f obtaining tests for gluten The Byeland Sheep Society wrote advising that the Council had decided to make a donation of 2gns for the special prize funds for the best Eyeland ram hogget, the amount to be in addition to the ordinary prize. The president referred to a meeting of representatives from A. and P. Associations, in connexion with the County Bay, and urged the committee to get exhibits in hand for the organiser to select from. Mr Watson stated that Mr H. J. Freeman had given 2gns towards the new show grounds funds.
