Personal. Sergeant J. W. McHolni, of Lower Hutt. arrived from Wellington yesterday, and is the guest of Mr and Mrs J. D. Bundy, Brittain terrace. Golf. The following have been selected to represent the Lyttelton Golf Club in the annual inter-club match during the coming week-end against the Christchurch Golf Club at Shirley: W. Knight, I. Davidson, L. Barnard, T>. R. L. Collett, T. Patterson, G. Morris, H. G. Banfield, and H. Derbidge. Girl Guides. The Lyttelton Girl Guides paraded for church service at Holy Trinity Church on Sunday evening. During the service the flag recently presented to the Guides by Captain J. Scott was dedicated by the vicar, the Rev. A. C. Parens*. • Harbour Light Theatre. "The Escape," a drama starring Virginia Vaili, and "The Outlaws of Red River," « Western comedy-drama featuring Tom Mis, will be repeated at the Harbour Light Theatre to-night, together with a comedy aDd a gazette. To-morrow, "Telling the World." starring William Haines, will be screened. The supporting programme includes two comedies, an Oswald cartoon, N.Z. scenic, and a gazette. Borough Kates. Tho same rate will be struck in Lyttelton this year as in the past few years, that is, 2s in the £ general rate, and 2 per cent. water rate, making a total of -a 5d in the £ on the annual rental value of properties. A slight alteration has been made in the minimum water rate, which is now 10s on all properties to which water is laid on. Previously properties of low rental value paid a minimum water rate of ss, but the amendment of 1928 to the Municipal Corporations Act makes it mandatory upon the Council to charge the same minimum rate on all properties.
