NATIVE BIRDS.
PRESENTED TO CANADA. [THE PBE3S Special Service.] AUCKLAND, July 8. In exchange for animals presented to the Auckland Zoo, the City Council is sending specimens of native birds to Canada to-morrow by the Canadian Transporter. This is made possible by permission of the Minister for Internal Affairs, as it is illegal to export without- Government sanction. The Town Clerk. Mr J. 8. Brigham. said this morning that the Council had secured two wekas, four pairs of black swan, and two pairs of native grey duc-k. The birds were being sent to Toronto Zoological Park in exchange for exhibits for the Auckland Zoo. presented by the Canadian National Park authorities about the time of the Toronto Exhibition.
