The City Council discusaed the matter of the reconstruction of Page's road last night in committee, and on resuming it was reported that it had been decided in view of the decision of the Highways Board not to pay a subsidy in respect of the drainage of the highway that the City Council and Heathcote County Council request the Boord to call for t>.lternativ« tenders for the work, in Portland cement and asphp.ltic concrete. The City Engineer (Mr A. Jl. Galbraith) told a representative of The Press that he considered the ccnjljer of the road was dangerous, but as the Tramway Board would not be renewing its tracks for another seven years it would be better to go ahead vritb the work now than to hold it over.
