WESTPORT SHAKEN AGAIN. A HEAVY SHOCK. REPAIRED BRIDGE IN DANGER. (rEE33 ASSOCIATION IXLMGRAM.) WESTPORT, July S. The worst earthquake since the big earthquake on June 17th was felt iu V. est port at 12.15 to-day. There was no warning rumble, but, with dramatic suddenness, buildings received a severe buffeting. People rushed into the streets and women could be heard screaming. The shock, although very violent, lasted only about three seconds. Some crockery and goods in shops came down, but no serious damage is reported. Small tremors continued some time afterwards. The- earthquake to-day nearly brought down the bridge at Orawaiti, carrying the water main to Westport. The work of straightening up and strengthening the bridge was just completed last Saturday, and the tools and other gear returned to town. At present the bridge is being held up by the fastenings on to the railway traffic bridge, which runs beside it, pending further steps to straighten and strengthen it. It will be some weeks before the 14-inch main will be readv to resume service.
