CAUSES LITTLE DAMAGE

Following upon m fairly heavy downfall of rain on Saturday night, * high wind, approaching gale force at times, sprang up in the early hours of yesterday morning and levelled a number of wireless aerials and a few trees in the City. The wind was from the easterly quarter, and continued for the greater part of yesterday, ending in rain in the evening. Little damage ru done to either the public or private gardens, beyond the breaking off of a few dead branches here and thera, and the felling of insecure trees. On the Cashmere Hills, a telephone line was broken, but the Postal authorities report that communication by telephone and telegraph was not affected in any way.
