HOSPITAL FINANCE.

DR. VALINTINE DEFENDS N.Z. SYSTEM. [THE PEESS Special Service.] AUCKLAND, July 6. Dr. T. H. Valintine. administrative head of the Health Department, who returned by the lonic to-day, has very little to say in regard to his trip. He attended the Congress of Hygiene Internationale at Paris, and also inspected a number of hospitals. "1 have come back,'' he said, "extremely pleased with New Zealand hospitals. There is no doubt we are on right lines, and have a prpper system in vogue. Moreover, we have in New Zealand a system of administration which even those older countries 1&® England and Scotland, although they have excellent institutions, could copy wifh advantage. Their difficulties are that they have no assured finance such as we have in New Zealand, and they have to depend almost entirely upon public generosity and benefactions."
