CONFERENCE TO BE HELD. A conference is to be held on Friday night between representatives of the Manufacturers' Association, .Rotary Club Chamber of Commerce, Trades and Labour Council, the Returned Soldiers' Association, and Labour Department with a view to arriving at a scheme whereby work may be found for unemployed. , The secretary or tlra Returned Soldiers' Association (Mr E F. Willcox) stated on Saturday that many of the returned men at present unemployed had qualification's for a higher class of work than casual labouring, and that it was hoped the corferenc-e would result in getting positions for those concerned. Twenty-one men registered at the Government Labour Bureau on Saturday morning, ot whom three were single and IS married. Work was provided for 675 men bv the City Council ind 23 went to iobs found for them bv the Public Works, Department. One man was provided with private employment. _______^_^
