NURSE MAUDE ASSOCIA- j TION. j I ANNUAL MEETING. | i | The Nurse Maude Association met i at the Association's rooms, Madras street, yesterday afternoon, Mr W. G. Janiieson presiding. The balance-sheet j for the year was adopted. The chair- j man said they regretted very much Mr | Reeee's absence. Nurso Maude and j her helpers had done a great deal of ; work during the year. It was work that no public body such as the Hospital could attend to. They btili needed money very badly; the public of Christchurch would suffer vtry greatly if the work were discontinued. The ladies who <;aine along and helped were doing a very great good indeed. They needed a little more publicity to encourage the work. Mr J- S. Barrett seconded the report. The work that had been done, he said, was very, very wonderful indeed. As long as Christchurch was Christchurch Nurse Maude's name would be remembered. The secretary, Mr G. L. Donaldson, announced that the Canterbury Allied Building Trades Association of Employers, per Mr J. Greig, had made a gift of £IOO towards the endowment fund. A very hearty vote of thanks to the donors was moved by Lady Rhodes Mrs J. P. Whatman thanked the chairman for his remarks about the work of herself and her helpers. They had most of them been there 6bout ten years. Lady Rhodes proposed votes of thanks to the lady workers and to Mrs Ballin for a gift of 100 garments. Nurse Maude said it was the constancy of the work of Mr Reece and the women helpers that she appreciated. Mr Whatman, in seconding the motion, said that they must focus on publicity. The good work that was being done was not sufficiently advertised. He expressed great pleasure in the improved health of Nurse Maude, for she was the most important part of the organisation. The motion was carried. The retiring committee was reelected en bloc. ! Mr J. S. Barrett moved a vote of thanks to Nurse Maude and her nursing staff for the work of the year, and this motion was carried
