OWNERS PREPARED TO MEET MINERS. (TOTTK> PBSBS ASSOCIATION— SI BIJBCTBIC izluqbjlp-b— corraioHT.) SYDNEY, May 18. The president of the Northern Collieries' Association, Mr C. M. McDonald, stated that if the owners were permitted to carry on the industry in close co-operation with the workers without trouble-making and the intervention of third parties, many of the difficulties of the industry would disappear. Representatives or the owners were prepared to meet representatives of the rank and .file of miners at any time, at a private round-table conference where, free from the atmosphere of officialdom, a frank talk could take place and a basis would soon be found for carrying on the industry in the future.— Australian Press Association.

A comprehensive statement of the point of view of the Australian mineworkers with regard to the deadlock was made in the Municipal Concert Hall last evening by Mr Hamilton Knight, M.L.A.,10r the Hartley electorate. Together with Mr J. M. Baddeley, M.L.A., formerly Minister for Mines, Labour, and Industry, in the late New South Wales Labour Government, Mr Knight is touring the Dominion in the interests of the miners and their families, and last night he made an appeal for funds. Mr H. T. Armstrong, MP., occupied the chair. At the conclusion of his address, Mr Knight was accorded a hearty vote of thanks, and a resolution was passed to the effect that all present co-oper-ate in raising funds to help the oause.
