TOO MUCH LIQUOR.
xMOTORIST SLEPT IN HIS CAR. [THE PRESS Special Service.] AUCKLAND, May 6. In the Magistrate's Court to-day Leslie Roy Plummer (24), a storeman, was charged with being in a state of intoxication while in charge of a motor-car in Elliot street on Satutday night. Sub-Inspector McCarthy said Plummer had been attending a reunion of engineers on Saturday and had taken more liquor than was good for him. He left the rooms where the function was'being held and went to his car to have a sleep. The Magistrate (Mr Hunt): Where else could he go except to his car, which was his own property? Sub-Inspector McCarthy: He might have awakened and attempted to drive away. Counsel for accused said. Plummer had no intention of driving away. He had done the best thing by going to his ear in a quiet street and sleeping off the effects of the liquor. Plummer was a respectable man and had never been in trouble before.
"He has been punished enough and will be convicted and discharged," said the Magistrate.
