RECORD ENTRY.
CHRISTCHURCH COMPETITIONS. A record entry has been received for the 19th annual Christchurch competitions festival, which commences at the Municipal Concert Hall next Saturday. Over 2000 entries have been made for the various competitions. The judges will be: — . Mr W. Russell-Wood, Auckland (elocution) ; Dr C. A. Jarman, iiaunceston (vocal and instrumental music); Miss Given Gibbs Palmerston North (fancy dancing); Mr D. H. Bothwell, Masterton (national dancing). The national dancing has drawn many entries this year, and should he particularly good. A record entry of five for the junior choir contest should also be worthy of special attention. . .
In connexion with the competitions, a feature which should appeal to the public will be the introduction of a book of concession tickets. These tickets, ou being shown wilt admit to any day session at either of the two halls that are being used, and will also admit the bearer to the evening concert (dress circle or stalls), at the Municipal Concert Hall.
