KINDERGARTEN UNION
REFRESHER COURSE. A refresher course arranged by the Education Committee of the Christchurch Free Kindergarten Association, under the auspices of the newly-formed Kindergarten Union of New Zealand, will open in Christchurch tomorrow. The course is, primarily, for kindergarten teachers and students, and all the centres, Auckland, Wellington, and Dunedin, are sending their teachers, but the lectures are free and open to the general public. The programme will be: — Tuesday, May 7th—9.30 to noon: Visit Kindergartens. 2 to 3 p.m.: Principals meet. 2.30 p.m.: Executive meeting at Mrs Pepuler's. 3 to 4 p.m.: Folk dancing demonstration by Miss Ferguson, Training College Hall. 4to 5 p.m.: Eurythmics by Mrs A. C. Kain, Training College Hall. 8 p.m.: Reception. Canterbury Women's Club. Wednesday, Bth—9 to 10.30 a.m.: Lecture •by Professor J. Shelley in the Little Theatre, Canterbury College. 11 to noon: Speech training, by Miss Stewart, Training College. 2.30 to 3.30 p.m.: "First steps in reading," by Miss Baster. at the Training Collage. 4 to 5 p.m.: Folk dancing by Miss Ferguson at Training College. 5.45 p.m.: Kindergarten tea at Phillipstown. . 8 p.m.: Lecture on music by Mr Vernon Griffiths, in Room 9, Training College. Thursday, 9th—9 to 10 a.m.: Psychology of the pre-school child, by Dr. Beeby, in Little Theatre, Canterbury College. 10.30 to noon: Lecture on "Nature in New Zealand," by Mr R. M. Laing, M.A., in Mrs K. Hadfleld's garden, Shirley. 12.30 p.m.: Visitors' luncheon at Tudor Tea Rooms. 2.30 to 3.30 p.m.: Number work, by Miss Baßter, at Training College. 4to 5 p.m.: Folk dancing. Miss Fernnson. Training College Hall. 8 p.m.: Dr. Phillips, "Health of the Pre-School Child," at Training College. Friday, 10th—9.30 to noon: Visit kindergartens. 2 to 3 p.m.: Lecture on the retarded child, by Miss I. Jamieson. 3.15 p.m.: At Mrn TbacVer's residence. Miss N. button, "Tho Honolulu Conference"; Miss (!. Colegrore, "The Nursery School in England."
