POLITICAL FIGHT GOES ON.
LABOUR LEADERS' SPEECHES. SIR JOHN SIMON TO BE OPPOSED. (UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION—BY BLECTJUC TELIGBAPH —COFraiOiTT.) (Received May 3rd, 8.5 p.m.) LONDON, May 3. It is understood that the Government intends to issue a manifesto next week, dealing with improved educational facilities. Mr Ramsay Mac Donald, speaking at Port Talbot, said that the new Government, of whatever colour, would enter upon an inheritance more bankrupt than any Government in Britain had ever faced. It was going to be no easy task. _ The great problem would be reconditioning the country. Mr Vernon Hartshorn, speaking at Maesteg, predicted that if the Labour Government was not returned, there would be a great crisis in the coal trade at the end of the year, when the existing agreements expire. The Conservatives have decided, in view cf Sir John Simon's attacks upon the Government, and his active support of Mr Lloyd George, to contest his seat, which previously they intended not to contest, in view of Sir John Simon's services in India.—Australian Press Association.
