AIR SERVICE TO SOUTH AFRICA.
TRIALS TO BE HELD SOON, (BRITISH OmCUI. WIRELISS.) RUGBY, May 2. Sir Samuel Hoare, Secretary for the Air, stated in the House of Commons that the Government of Southern Rhodesia had expressed their willingness to arrange for a contribution of £IO,OOO yearly for a period of five years towards the cost of the projected air service between England and South Africa. The South African Government had undertaken to provide a substantial portion of the required subsidy, and offers to contribute bad also been received from the Administrations of Sudan, Kenya, Tanganyika, and Uganda. As a result of the ready co-operation on the part of the Administrations mentioned, the financing of the service was assured. Sir Samuel Hoare stated that the airship RIOO was expected to be ready for trial by about the end of May, and the RlOl about the end of June.
