GUN CLUBS.

METHVEN. Favoured with weather conditions that were ideal, the Methven Gun Club officially opened iti 1929 season on Saturday afternoon. There was a good muster of members in addition to represenatives of affiliated clubs. Before shooting commenced the president, Mr S. H. Anderson, thanked the members and visitors for turning out. He briefly referred to the club's healthy condition during the previous season, and trusted that this year would prove both a successful and enjoyable one. He announced that he was presenting a silver cup for competition during the season, and hoped that It would be the means of stimulating further interest among members. Anderson (president) thanked the visitors for attending, and congratulated members on the excellent shooting put up during the afternoon. He then presented the trophies. The representatives of outside clubs responded, thanking the club for the invitation to be present. Afternoon tea was provided and »ai in charge of Mesdames Bremer and McKee.

TAI TAPU CLUB. The openi-ng shoot of the Tai Tai.u Gun Club was held in Sir Heaton Rhodes's paddock. Weather conditions were good, and a large number of shooters attended.
