SCHOOL FETE.

In aid of the school improvement fund, a flower show and fete were held in the St. Albans school grounds on Saturday afternoon. There was a good attendance, the various side-shows being well patronised. There were the usual attractions —produce. ice-cream, sweets, and book stall, a baby-show, a guessing competition, a flower show, an exhibition of children's pets, and pupils' handicrafts. The Mayor ?Mr J. K. Archer) declared th<* fete open and Mr F. Brierly (chairman of the School Committee) also spoke. One of the main attractions for the children was "The Handcuff King," who found no difficulty in freeing himself from handcuffs and manacles. In the evening races were held. The Papanui Band min attendance. .
