STRAND THEATRE.
"The Triumph of tha Rat" is the main attraction at the Strand Theatre this week. Pierre Boucheron, once known as the Ha{| is now the idol ot Parisian society, meets the Comtessr STaSelelne do l'Ormt ani immediately falls in love with her. _ Zelie taunts him, so he wagers that within a month Madeleine will be in his arms. The Rat wins the wager. She sees Madeleine and tells her the story of the wager. Madeleine is horrified, and wt 1 not listen to Pierre's explanation. Pierre s progress on the downward path commences. At length he becomes potman at the White Coffin, where once he had reigned as king. But Zelie is not content. She engineers a plot by which the Rat seems to have, betrayed his own comrades. Then came the war. The Rat enlisted, and after serving in the trenches he was wounded. After being sent to the hospital, he is nursed back to life by Madeleine. , In the second picture, "The Vailey of Hell," Francis MacEtonald is starred.
