VIOLENT EXPLOSION.
SHOP WRECKED IN EARLWOOD. ("UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION —15* ELICMtIO TBLZOaATB -COPYRfOHT.) SYDNEY, January 2. A violent explosion, the cause of which is unknown, wrecked a bootshop in front of a picture theatre in the suburb of Earl wood early in- the morning. Fire broke out and the roadway was strewn with debris. The picture theatre was damaged, the walls being cracked. Other buildings nearby were also shaken. Firemen subdued the flames. —Australian Press Association. THE OCCUPIER ARRESTED. (Received January 2nd, 11.25 p.m.) SYD2STEY, January 2. Following the explosion at Earlwood, Prank Massey, the occupier, has been arrested. Two empty petrol tins were found in the ruins.—Australian Press Association.
