PICTURESQUE CRICKET.
INVALIDS V. ESQUIMOS. (UNITED PREiS ASSOCIATION—BLBST&IC TELEGBAPH— COPYRIGHT.) LONDON, January 1. There were most picturesque scenes at Halfpenny Downs during the cricket match, Mr J. C. Squire's Invalids v. the Hampshire Esquimos, which was played for charity. The playing field prior to the commencement was visited by the Bambledon Hounds. Mr J C. Squire, on behalf of the teams, cabled his congratulations to Chapman.—Australian Press Association . [Mr Squire stated that the game would be played, rain, hail, or snowFlannels were to be compulsory, and gloves permitted.]
