A thresher shark, ISft in length and weighing 7721b, was caught at Russell on Snnday. It is the second largest to be caught there, the record, 8321b, being held by Mr White-Wickham. When he was coming alongside the wharf in a launch, a young man, Mr James Hodgson, saw the shark under the wharf. He picked up a boathook and struck it on the head. It swam to the shore, where it was secured. It is an unusual occurrence for a fish of this sort to be seen so close to the shore. Evidently the shark had previously been injured, as it had several marks on. it.
