NOTES ON THE RACING. (SPECIAL TO THE PBEBS.) PALMEKSTON N„ January 2. The ■weather was fine and the course in very fair order for the concluding day of the Marton Meeting. Lucky Bag won the Junction Plate all the way. He was followed into the straight by Accredity and Indolent, but he shook off Indolent's challenge and won by a length. Equitant was a moderate third, and Accredity and Praeda were next. Novar was a short-priced favourite for the Second Hurdles, but he let his optimistic supporters down. Atareria led into the straight, where Novar took charge, but failed to stay on, and in the end tady Gay got through on the rails and won by threequarter?! of a length from Atareria, who beat Bed Bank by half a length. Novar was fourth. Tnrift and King Que* were the favourites in the iilectric Hack Handicap, on which the wagering was fairly even. After Australis : and Acred had led to the straight. King Quex came from the baek and won comfortablv by a length and a half from Acred, while half a length away was Australia, just ahead of Thrift. Sir Eoy and Singleton were solidly backed in the Aldworth Stakes. Yivo led to the straight, where Rnanui and Sir Roy headed her. Sir Roy drew out in the run home, but Maidip came with a late run and failed by only a head to get to Sir Roy. Ruanui was a length away third, and Keddar and Singleton were next. From an uneven start Atacoma led out in the Ladies' Bracelet, but Hymestrason and Elysianor were first into the straight, and Elysianor went on to win comfortably by two lengths. Kilburn, who was third, was ten lengths away, and Atacoma was fourth. A very short price was touched by Benxor* in the Telegraph Handicap, but the favourite was not quit* good enough. Dobbin led into the straight from The Baider, Chelone. snd Callanmore, and then Miss Pat swooped down from the back. A hard finish saw Miss Pat score by a neck from Callanmore, with Benzora and The Raider close up next. In the Farewell Hack Handicap Inflame, Jlangaharei, White Ringlet, and Black Maire were first into the straight, and a little over a furlong from home White Ringlet shot out of the bunch and lasted long enough to hv a length from Black Maire, with Mangaharei a poor third, and First Ruler fourth. , . favourite. As usual, Lin Arlington want to the front early in the race and he turned for home with Brigadier Bill alongside him, three lengths clear of Nucleus and Callanmor*. Kilmeiao *ra» on the rails just behind Callanmore, but he pulled oat in the straight and he and Nucleus fought out the issue, Kilmeizo winning by a head. Callanmore was a length and a half away third, and Lin Arlington, Vigilance, and Peneus, who were in. line, were next.
