SUDDEN DEATH.
MR C. J. PEARCE. Early yesterday morning, Mr Charles James Pearce, who was one of the leaders of the Christcburch co-operative party which obtained the contract for slaughtering at the City Abattoir, Sockburn, collapsed and died. The party had only commenced its' contract yesterday morning. Mr Pearce, who had been under the care of a doctor for heart trouble some time ago, had a bad turn early in the morning. He was advised to take things more quietly, but he later had 1 another . seizure, and died before medical aid could be summoned. Mr Pearce, who was about forty-six years of age, was a married man with three children, and resided at 16 Aldred street. Some time ago, Mr Pearce woiked in conjunction with his father, as a con* 1 tractor at the Christchurch Abattoir, I and more recently he bad been engaged in farming operations in the Argentine. Prior to joining the Christchurch co- | operative party he was engaged as a foreman butcher at the Westfield Freezing Works, near Auckland.
