"France, since the autumn of 1921, has enjoyed among European nations signal, and perhaps even unique, economic good fortune," reports Mr J. K. Cahill, British Commercial Counsellor at Paris. ''Save for a slight check for a few months in 1927, France has experienced a period of the most pronounced commercial and industrial prosperity. Her output has bethi limited only by tho shortage of labour, to meet which 1,500,000 foreign workers have been imported. "A fresh outburst of prosperity has been witnessed during the present, year, tlie total number receiving unemployment relief in September being unaer* 800. Tho recovery of AlsaceLorraine has brought immense wealth, wl|ile this has been aided by Grman reparations and payments in kind.
