DERATING BILL.
LABOUR OPPOSITION. PASSES SECOND BEADING. (ONITBD PRESS ASSOCIATION—ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH—COITRIGirr.) (Received November 29th, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, November 28. The House continued the debate on the Local Government Reform (Derating) Bill, which was rend for the second time, by 344 votes to l(io. Mr Sidney Webb (Labour) protested that the Bill was really six or seven measures bound together. It was an outrage to pass this in a single session. Other. Labourites urged that persons suffering from unemployment should be excluded from the Bill, their view being that unemployment should be made a national responsibility. Sir Kingsley Wood, summing up on behalf of the Government, emphasised the relief that agriculture and the distressed industries would receive under the Bill.—Australian Press Association.
