WoOd pfesiding, The aimual report stated that in spite of the fact that the New Bealatld fthartpiofl' ships -\V6re being held in Christchurch flt the same tifne, the Christmas tournament at Ashburton was very successful. The senior grade club competition had to be dropped through iaek of support, and a doubles competition Was held. The gala cups were again open fixtures, and the entries received proved that this was the best' way of deciding the winner. Tho Association hoped that more enthusiasm Would be shown in the county ladder this season. Regret was expressed at the departure to Timaru of Mr W. W. Garton, who, as a vice-president and a keen member of the tournament committee, did much good work for the Association. The financial statement showed a credit of £l4 10s 9d on the tournament account, atid .a credit of £2 16s fid on thd gehflrol account.

The report and balance-sheet Were adopted. The South Canterbury Lawn Tennis As* sociatioti forwarded a resolution Urging the New Zealand Association to send leading players to centres other than northern centres. Buchanan, and D. Heenan; delegates to Canterbury Centre, Messrs W. Jamieson and Sommerville; Match and Selection Committee, Messrs V. W. Russell. W. B. Featherston, and H. E. Taylor; auditor, Mr W. H. Woods; acting secretary and treasurer, Mr" W. Heenan.

After a Shoft discussion the question of holding senior competitions was referred M the Match and fe'olection Committee, and it •was decided to close the entries for the junior competitions on December sth, and to begin the competitions on December Bth. In view of the country clubs' tournament at Ohristchurch at Christmas, it- decided ttdt to hdld the Usttal tournament at ABhburton. It was agreod that a meeting of the Association be held in September with a view to holding a tournament In conjunction with the South Canterbury Association in 1829. On the motion of Mr L. R. Clark, it was decided to write to the Canterbury Association pointing out that its decision to hdld a country clubs' tournament had caused the dropping of the Ashbnrton tournament. On the motion of Mr H. E. Taylor, it w'ft» decided to arrange a county ladder#
