THEATRE ROYAL TO-NIGHT.
MARGARET BANNERMAN. To-night, at the Theatre Royal, the brilliant English actreßS, Miss Margaret Bannerman, and Anthony Prinsep's London Company -will be presented for the first time in Christchurch by the J. 0. Williamson, Ltd., management in Walter Hackett's, successful comedy-drama, "Other Men's Wives," which was specially written for Miss Bannerman, and in which she has achieved one of her greatest successes. Playgbers will probably realise the fact that, they are getting an opportunity to enjoy the artistry, of Miss Bannerman while she is in the zenith of her fame, as at the moment she ranks as one of the best and most brilliant actresses on the English-speaking stage. She is the youngest. London star to visit New Zealand. It was the genius of Miss-Bannerman as a comedy and a dramatic artist that did more than anything else to make "Our Betters" the most successful comedy staged in London during recent years, and it was her brilliant triumph in that play that induced Mr Walter Hackett, the well-known author, to write "Other Men's Wives" specially- for Miss Bannerman. It is said that in the.comedy scenes in this play she is delicious, and as an emotional actress she is supreme in the sensational finale to ' the second act. Miss Bannerman will be supported by the' strength of Anthony Prinsep's London Company, which includes Mr Ellis Irving, Mr Louis Goodrich, Miss Lily Titheradge, G. Gar Coupcr, Arthur Cornell, Herbert, Millard, and Geoffrev Miller. During the action of "Other Men'B Wives" Miss Bannerman wears some beautiful frocks, and'a fea' ture of the production is the staging and furnishings. The bos plan arrangements are advertised. •
