VACANT PORTFOLIOS.
TEMPORARY ALLOCATIONS. * (PBESS ASSOCIATION TELMBAH.) WELLINGTON, November 28. Consequent upon the resignations of the four defeated Ministers which were accepted by the Governor-General on Monday, the. Prime Minister announced to-day that his Excellency has been pleased to maie the following appointments in connexion with the vacant portfolios:— Prime Minister (Rt. Hon. J; G. Coates), Minister for Mines and Minister for Agriculture. Hon. Mr Downie Stewart, AttorneyGeneral, Minister for Justice, and Minister for Defence. Hon. Mr Young, Minister for Industries and Commerce. Hon. Mr Wright, Minister for Labour. Hon. Mr Williams, Minister for Lands and . Commissioner of State Forests. In regard to the other Departments which were administered by the former Ministers, the Hon. Mr Downie Stewart will have charge of the Police, Prisons, Electoral, and War. Pensions Departments; the Hon. Mr Wright the Printing and Stationery, and Pensions Departments; and the Hon. Mr Williams the "Valuation* Land for Settlements, Discharged Soldiers' Settlement, and Scenery Preservation Departments,
