Tiw promising colt, Guy Denver, by Guy Parrish—Leila Denver, has oeen purchased from J. N. Clarke by the Christchurch sportsman, Mr W. Williamson. Gny Denver will remain in Clarke's stable, and after being gelded will be turned out for a good spell. Guy Denver should develop into a good racehorse.

Native Chief was expected to make a brave showing in the Free for All at Addington yesterdav. but it is quite evident 'that he. has. not mended his manners at the barrier, and he lost all chance at the start by failing to go away. Once on the journey he showed terrific speed, hut even if he had gone away correctly it is doubtful as to whether he would have been able to withstand the brilliant effort of Peter Bingen. It is a. remarkable fact that Acron, holder of the mile record for New Zealand, arid Native Chief, both notoriously bad horses at the barrier, have not won a race since they were trained by J J Kennerley, in whoso hands both scored many notable wins. After the running of the Whiteleigh Handicap at Addington yesterday E. C. McDermott was railed before the Judicial Committee to explain his driving of Nourmahal.
