Seldom, if erer, have the, grounds at the Riccarton racecourse looked better than they did yesterday, when the weather was ideal for the third day of the Canterbury Jockey Club's Metropolitan Meeting. Golden laburnum and drooping wistaria nodded a cheery welcome to the many visitors,-and the gardens were gay with violas, tulips, and rhododendrons, while graceful yellow irises along the margin of the lake near the tearoom were reflected in the clear water beneath.
