AERO CLUBS.

MID-CANTERBURY.

The Mid-Canterbury Aero Club met last evening, Mr H. E. Herring presiding. It was reported that' eight social and eighteen pupil and pilot members had enrolled. Messrs J. 5. Grigg (Longbeach) and J. P. Studholme (Coldstream) WTote accepting office as vice-presidents. The Director of Aviation advised that a local pilot could be employed to instruct, pupils provided his competency was tested. It was decided to write to the Canterbury, Wellington, and Auckland Aero Clubs asking if-they could arrange for the representation of the Mid-Can-terbury Aero Club at the forthcoming Civil Aero conference in Washington. On the recommendation of the provisional committee it was decided:—(l) That the annual subscription be £3 3s for pilot and pupil members, £1 Is for social members, and 12s 6d for junior members (under 18). (2) That a levy of 5s be made on members to defray expenses, thi remainder to be due when the 'planes arrive. Mr Laurenson said that certain irregular matters had occurred in regard to the election of officers at the initial meeting, and as a result of criticism the captain, vice-captain, and hon. sec- . retary had resigned. The following general committee was elected:—Messrs A. H.' Haden, B. E. Napier, J. 0. Williams, J. T. Clarke, J. D. Crowe, W. M. Clark, R. J. Laurenson, A. R. Gourlay, A. L. Jones, W. 0. Hayes, W. J. Hasselmore, C. Campbell, G. Hertford, and R. R. Ryburn.
