N.Z. SKIM MILK.
PROPOSED AUSTRALIAN DUTY. (CXITED PIUSeS ASSOCIATION—BY EMCTBIC TELEOHAPH—COPYKIGHT.) SYDNEY, November 7. Before tho Tariff Board, Mr Andrew JVeebairo, of the New Zealand Cooperative Dairy Company, Ltd., opposed an application for a dumping duty on New Zealand skim milk. He stated that Australian manufacturers already were protected to the extent of £lO a ton, and any increase would seriously endanger the use of skim milk powder for manufacturing purposes. He warned the Tariff Board that the retaliatory measures imposed by those parts of the Empire against whom Australia made impossible duties would make trade within the Empire impossible. Mr Patrick Grant, of the Primary, Producers' Union of New South Wales, in supporting the application, said that! so long as Australian manufacturers could supply their own reasonable requirements, some measure of protection was desirable'.
