NORTH CANTERBURY.

SEFTON. In the Sefton Domain on Saturday a cricket match was played between Eyreton and Sefton, the home team winning by 59 runs to 33. For Sefton, most runs were gained by N. Farrar 32, and E. Harvey 14. HANMER SPRINGS. On Monday morning a nor'-wester of hurricane force visited Hanmer, and lasted about four hours. A lot of minor damage was done, windows being blown in, doors wrenched off, trees blown down, and sheds unroofed. The blow must have been purely local, as at St. Helen's Station, two miles away, the weather was quite normal. . The monthly meeting of the committee of the Golf Club was held on Monday. Mr F. Coofce presided. The following officials and committees were elected Men's captain. Mr T. Wood; handicapper, Mrs F Lumsden; greens committee, Dr. F. Lumsden and Mr F Coote; match committee, Mrs F. Lumsden and Mr F. Coote. Nine new members were elected. TAI TAPU. A cricket match .was played at Rhodes Park on Saturday between Weedons and Tai Tapu. Tai Tapu made 150 for six wickets, and Weedons 50 for nine wickets. The result was a draw. A meeting of the committee of the flower show was held in the school on Mondav evening, when judges were appointed, also stewards for the different classes. The show date has been fixed for December 14th. Messrs Jones, Nairn, and .Wilson were appointed judges for the horticultural and vegetable sections, Mesdames Bartrum and Mcßean for the home industries, and Mr Graham judge of the school work.
