SUPPRESSION OF NAMES.
MAGISTRATE ON THEFTS BY YOUTHS.
[THE PEESS Special 3errie«.] AUCKLAND, November 6. Because he was just over the age of 17, a youth, who admitted in the Police Court a charge of stealing 30s worth of cigarettes, was ordered to appear in the Children's Court on Saturday. "May I have my name suppressed/ he asked the Magistrate (Mr F. K.. Hunt). "My father wall lose his position if my name goes in the papers. Stating that the youth's name should be suppressed on account of his age and the fact that he was to appear in the Children's Court, the Magistrate said: "That is tho trouble with all these thefts. All they think about is keeping their names out of the newspapers. If that is done they will steal to their hearts' content and cause everyone connected with them no end of worry and concern."
