OTIRA EXCURSION.
YESTERDAY'S TRIP. The Railway Department's excursion to Otira yesterday was well patronised, over 200 people making the trip. The opportunities provided by the Department to popularise this very attractive holiday resort within so easy reach of the City have been availed of to a great extent during the past few and the result is that the Gorge is rapidly becoming one of the accepted resorts of the holidaymaker. While it was fairly cold in the City, those who made the excursion yesterday were rewarded with ideal weather that contributed very largely to the success of the outing. A special train was run from Waiau, 58 people coming in from the north to join the excursion, the main body of which comprised 150 from Christchurch.
