SIDNEY, November 8.
Interest in . the so-called "Olympio scandal" grows, following Mr Duff's report to the Olympio Council, naming Stuart and Bolger as being neglectful in training during the trip. , Stuart declares that be will seek legal advice, as he considers the charge amounts to defamation of character. He did more track work than any other member of the team, but under the conditions his chances were hopeless. Further than that he ■would not speak at present. , Pearce, the sculling champion, unhesitatingly denounces the training arrangements. He would not have had a chance himself but for the action taken privately by his father. Whyte, .the Victorian Olympio runner, now in Sydney, suras up Mr Duff's report as "bunk," ,and says the* tour v.as a farce from beginning to end. The Federation in future should make arrangements that would give the Australians at least a fighting chance.— Australian Press Association.
