I Mr Wright) informed the House of Be-'' presentatives to-day that he had before him, at present, a scheme involving an expenditure of £BOO,OOO, arising out of I a Departmental survey of the recom- 1 mendations of thp majority report of the primary school's syllabus committee. 1 The Minister explained that he had I just received a report from the Department, showing exactly what could be 1 done in regard to the recommendations how the scheme could be carried out, and what the cost would be. The report from the Department would be submitted shortly to Cabinet, who would be asked for a decision as to whether the necessary money could be found. According to the report, the scheme proposed would cost £BOO,OOO, which could be spread over a number of years, probably between eight and ten years. The scheme adopted, the Minister added, should- be completed within a reasonable time, as little would be gained if it were to take a quarter of a century to finish.

"In the past," the Minister added, "I.have refused, and I refuse now, to be concerned with the launching of any system, unless the money is provided for it, as otherwise it would only mean starving other branches." >
