Southampton's Woman Mayor. Rugby, August 15.—The woman Mayor of Southampton, Mrs Foster Welch, sailed in the United States liner Leviathan, to-day to pay an official visit to some of the principal American citieß. Mrs Poster Welch, as Mayor, is, ex-officio, Admiral of the Port of Southampton, and her flag flew from the masthead as the vessel left the docks.—British Official Wireless.

Eugby, August. 15.—1n view of the Lord Chancellor's appointment as Act-ing-Prime Minister, Viscount Peel has been appointed chairman of the' British Delegation to Canada.—British Official Wireless. Victorian Politics. Melbourne, August 16. —A no-con-fidence motion against the Hogan Labour Government in tho Victorian Assembly was defeated by 35 votes to 28. Australia sailed for Quebec to-day, where it is expected that Prince. George will visit the vessel. Ottawa, .August 15. —Mr H, Phillippe Roy, Canadian Commissibner at Paris for the past 18 years, has been recommended'by'the Dominion Government to the King as Canadian Minister Plenipotentiary to Paris. — Australian Press Association, United Service. Indians Killed at Suva. Suva, August 16.—Two Indians were killed when a landslide occurred this morning at the harbour reclamation works at Suva, being, buried under falling stones. —Australian Press Association.
