He was admitted to the Christchttrch Hospital, where he is progressing satisfactorily. MUNICIPAL CONCERTS. UNPROFITABLE IN AUCKLAND. [THE PBBSS Special Service.} AUCKLAND, August 16. "It i 3 not worth opening the doors and X would hesitate to tell you the amount of money taken at recent municipal concerts/' said the Mayor, Mr George Baildon, at a meeting of the City Council. The Mayor's comment was prompted by the reading of a letter from the Radio Broadcasting Company stating that it did not wish to renew its, agreement in connexion with the broadcasting of municipal concerts. "Organ recitals are riot appreciated by listeners," stated the company which, however, was prepared to consider a new agreement, whereby it should broadcast band concerts alone. It was decided that a special committee consider the whole matter of municipal concerts, and furnish a report on the question of their continuance.
